The Green Street School community is gearing up for our fifth annual 5K Tulip Trot on Saturday, May 13. This exciting event is a great opportunity for our students and the greater Brattleboro community to come together and participate in a 5K fun run/walk to benefit our students.
The event, along with a half-mile Sprout Run for younger children, starts and ends at Green Street School. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the Sprout Run scheduled for 9 a.m. and the Tulip Trot to begin at 10 a.m.
The Tulip Trot route is 3.1 miles of road and wooded trails that winds through neighborhood streets before entering the scenic Retreat trails at the base of Brattleboro's famous Harris Hill Ski Jump. At the conclusion of the race there will be music, refreshments, raffle prizes, and good times for all.

Clouds hovered at first, but then the sun beat down, and we all shared the heat and the sweat. The temperature reminded me a lot of the week in June 2008 when the town was living with another heat wave and school was about to let out. It was Friday night,
