WESTMINSTER-I have known Michelle Bos-Lun since I moved to Westminster seven years ago and joined a writing group of which she was a member.
Immediately, I was impressed with her commitment to service and to helping others. She wrote beautifully about her work with students in Taiwan and Iraq through State Department exchanges. Then, as I got to know her, I learned that she has also taught English to asylum seekers and supported schools in India. In these and other ways, she has been a frontline ambassador for America, fostering knowledge and good will.
I have worked beside Michelle teaching classes in poetry and the short story at the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield. She was always professional, always caring, always prepared, knowledgeable, and effective. At SSCF she showed that same determination to promote learning, understanding, and good will.
Her compassion, dedication, and hard work are evident in everything she does. Her many hours working with restorative justice, running youth programs, and doing case management for homeless teens and adults are just a few examples.
