• William John "Willy B" Barrett, 63, of Brattleboro. Died unexpectedly on Jan. 23, 2025, in Springfield, Vermont. He was born in Brattleboro on July 26, 1961, the son of John and Gloria (Nixon) Barrett. Raised and educated in town, he was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 1979. Will was employed at the Holstein Association in Brattleboro as head of maintenance of the facility and grounds. Previously, he was a self-employed general contractor operating William Barrett Builders. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church and was a former member of the B.P.O. Elks, Brattleboro Lodge #1499. Will enjoyed playing basketball and for several years was a referee in Brattleboro. He enjoyed spectator sports and was an avid Boston Celtics fan. He also enjoyed music, Lynyrd Skynyrd being one of his favorite groups. Additionally, he liked the outdoors, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially at Spofford Lake during the summer months. The love Will had for his grandchildren was boundless, and he will always hold a special place in their hearts. He was the best "Papa." On October 5, 1985, in Brattleboro, he married Terri R. Moore, who survives. Though William and Terri had separated, they remained united in their shared commitment to family and continued to cherish their relationship as co-parents, grandparents, and friends. William is also survived by his two daughters, Chelsea Barrett Viera and husband, Nicholas, of Concord, New Hampshire, and Allison Barrett and her partner, Ryan Smith, of Townshend; one son, John J. Barrett of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Karen Barrett (John Highter) of Brattleboro and Jean Bristol (Gordon) of Williamsville; two brothers, James Barrett (Allison) of Hinsdale and Stephen Barrett (Helayne) of Brattleboro; and four grandchildren, Kolton William, Grayson William, Jackson Scott, and Emery Vineyard.
