• In Brattleboro (Memorial Hos­pital), July 31, 2013, a daughter, Lorelai Mae Greenleaf, to Patrick and Laurie (Baldwin) Greenleaf of Putney; granddaughter to David and Debbie Greenleaf of Brattleboro, Melody and Ken Lively of Newfane, Paula and Mel Price of California, Mo., and the late Steven Baldwin; great­granddaughter to Gloria and Jim Pinkerton of Vernon.

• Emily Foard of Vernon has been named to Dean's List for the spring 2013 semester at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Transitions

• Rescue Inc. has appointed Drew Hazelton as interim Chief of Operations. For­mer Chief of Operations Mark Considine will assume new duties within the organization. Hazelton has served as a volunteer EMT and firefighter for NewBrook Fire and Rescue and as a volunteer with Grace Cottage Ambulance service which later became Divi­sion II of Rescue Inc. He started as a full-time paramedic with Rescue Inc. in July 2000, and was promoted to captain in 2006. He has man­aged the Technical Res­cue Team, as well as daily operations, over the past seven years.

• Putney Family Healthcare announced that John Todd, APRN, FNP has joined the practice. Todd received his Family Nurse Practitioner license from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2003, after completing his Master's of Science in Nursing at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has practiced medicine in a number of settings since that time, most recently in the Brattleboro Retreat Admissions Department and Medical Clinic. A Putney resident, Todd also spent three years as the Evening Nursing Supervisor at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.

• Marie Agnes Burns Cole-Nortz, 67, of Brattleboro. Died June 22 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., from kidney disease. Wife of Johann J. “Jim” Nortz. Former wife of William Cole for 20 years. Mother of Seanna Sanville, and her husband, Rick. Stepmother of James Nortz, Quendrith Macedo, and Heidi Traficanti. Born in Springfield, Vt., the daughter of the late Louis James Burns and Mary Iola Goss Burns, she attended Springfield schools and graduated from Champlain College with a degree in office management and accounting. She retired from the Vermont Department of Corrections after 30 years of service as the business manager. She was a very active Eastern Star member as long as her health allowed. She will be missed by many, especially the members and friends of Ascutney Chapter in Windsor. Memorial information: On Saturday, Aug. 17, at 4 p.m., a celebration of remembrance will be held at the Putney Friends Meeting, 17 Bellows Falls Rd. In the Quaker tradition, a potluck supper will follow the service. Bring food and flowers. • Jason Da­vid Cray, 37, of Bellows Falls. Died July 30 as a re­sult of injuries sustained in a mo­torcycle accident in Charleston, S.C. Survived by his parents David and Patricia of Northborough, Mass., his sister, Courtney Cray, also of Northborough, his two children, Jonathan and Jennifer, and their mother, Angela Wyco, all of Grafton, Mass. He attended Algonquin Re­gional High School in Northborough and was currently working as a manager for Hess Corp. in Charleston. He was respected by all of his peers and co-workers at Hess for his loyal­ty, commitment, and work ethic. He was proud of his New Eng­land roots and supported all of the Boston sports teams. In the last couple years, he devel­oped a real passion for riding his motorcycle with all of his friends down south. He relished spend­ing his spare time on his bike with his friends. He truly touched many lives in a very short period of time. He was a loving son, broth­er, father and friend and will be sorely missed by all. Memorial information: A funeral service was held Aug. 4 at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls. Donations to the charity of one's choice.

• Nora “No­nie” O'Brien Eno, 82, of Westiminster. Died Ju­ly 28 at her home on Kissell Hill. Wife of James Eno for nearly 59 years. Mother of Michael Eno and his wife, Pam, of Ludlow; Timothy Eno and his wife, Brenda, of Bellows Falls; Jane Eno-Oevermann and her hus­band, Dieter, of Springfield; and John Eno of West Palm Beach Fla. Sister of Patricia Standen of Weathersfield and the late James O'Brien and Richard O'Brien. Born in North Walpole, N.H., the daughter of the late Francis O'Brien and Mary Jose­phine Hennessey, she graduat­ed from Bellows Falls High School in 1948. She held several jobs in the community that she loved. She worked at Kane's Pharmacy and Harty Jewelers for many years, but the job she is best remem­bered for is as an AV Aide at Bel­lows Falls Union High School. She loved being around the kids and many students enjoyed her quick wit and humor. She spent many years as a member of the Bellows Falls Booster Club and could often be seen along the sidelines cheering on her children and students at various sport­ing events. She was also a 30-year mem­ber of the Ladies American Le­gion Auxiliary in Bellows Falls. Memorial information: A funeral Mass was held Aug. 1 at St. Charles Church in Bellows Falls. • Jerry Greenberg, 85, of Brattleboro. Died July 31. Husband of Carol Arnel Greenberg, Father of Laura Lawrie and her husband, William; Elizabeth Marks and her husband, Jonathan; and Ward Greenberg and his wife, Marlene. Grandfather of Kaatje, Aurora, Gurion, Viveca, Jillian and Naomi. Brother, uncle, and friend. • John J. Lawlor III, 71, of Rockingham. Died July 29 at his home. Longtime companion of Barbara Nottell of Rockingham. Father of John J. Lawlor IV of Maryland, Tracy Marie Lawlor of Brookline, and Stephanie Ann Lawlor of Keene, N.H. Brother of the late Joan, Brenda, Paul, and Eugene Lawlor. Son of the late John and Dorothy (Manley) Lawlor, he was a graduate of Walpole High School. He was an optical fabricator for 50 years, the last 17 spent at Janos Technology. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, love of family and friends, and his ability to make everyone laugh. He had a way of making folks feel as though they had known him forever. He had a great love of the Native American culture and gave generously to many reservations and tribes. Memorial information: A funeral service was held Aug. 2 at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, with burial in St. Charles Cemetery in Westminster. • Olivia Grace Leno, beloved infant daughter of Rachael Lawley and Christopher Leno of South Newfane. Sister of Keegan Leno. • Bertrand C. “Toby” Sprague, 74, of Brattleboro. Died July 30 at Vernon Green Nursing Home from complications of Parkinson's disease. Husband of Nancy (Chapman) C. Sprague for 20 years. Former husband of Teresa Canillas Sprague. Father of Laura Herrin and her husband, Bob, of Claremont, N.H.; Molly Kurent and her husband, Jim, of Burlington; and John Sprague and his wife, Sara, of Hollywood, Calif. Stepfather of Tad Pritchard of Flagstaff, Ariz. Brother of Elizabeth Putnam of Dayville, Conn. Born in Boston, the son of the late Isaac and Elizabeth Clarke Sprague, he graduated from Saint Peter's School in Peekskill, N.Y., the Uni­versity of New Hampshire in 1961 where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and Ida­ho State University with a master's in physical education. He was certified by Federale Nationale du Ski as a ski jumping judge. He took part as a judge in the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, N.Y., the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, France, and the Harris Hill competitions in Brattleboro. He worked at Pennington (N.J.) School, Idaho State University in Pocatello, Ida­ho, Riverside Junior High School in Springfield, Vt., and the Brattleboro Town Schools as a physical education director, and at Vermont Academy in Saxtons River as a math and science teacher and the head foot­ball and ski jumping coach. He owned and ran Toby's Tavern in Putney for five years. He liked to work with wood, building additions to his homes, dog sleds, and Adirondack chairs. He thoroughly enjoyed his national and international travels. He en­joyed all kinds of music. He even played his mandolin with The Stockwell Brothers on his 50th birthday. He was a member of Saint Michael's Episcopal Church in Brattleboro. Memorial information: A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations to the Vermont Academy Scholarship Fund, or a charity of one's choice.
