GUILFORD — Two organizations in the village of Guilford Center have received grants from funds within the Vermont Community Foundation for a new Theater and Library Camp in August, according to a news release.
Guilford Center Stage - a theater project sponsored by Broad Brook Grange - and the Guilford Free Library will use the funding for a collaborative program, Stage and Stream, a weeklong camp for fifth- to eighth-graders in mid-August. The program is fully enrolled.
Mornings will take place at Guilford Center Stage in the Broad Brook Grange, with theater workshops, games, improv, and sketches.
Campers and teachers then take the two-minute walk to the library for brown-bag lunch and an afternoon of literature, writing, journaling, and outdoor time in the woods, stream, the new play space and Weeks Trail.
The town-supported Guilford Free Library also provides weeklong morning camp sessions at other times this summer - one session for kindergarten through third-graders and another for children in grades 2-5. Stage and Stream is offered free of charge to Guilford kids, thanks to the grant funding and community donations. Campers from other towns may attend for a nominal fee.

Guilford Center Stage was created in 2015 by Broad Brook Grange to use the small and charming stage at the grange hall for theatrical productions. Its inaugural production of a Vermont comedy took place in October, and the premiere of a pair of one-acts by a Guilford playwright in early June.
