Main Street Arts offers summer classes

SAXTONS RIVER — Main Street Arts is planning a creative summer of dance, music, art, and crafts for area children.

Dancer Ashley Hensel-Browning will lead two dance workshops Monday to Wednesday, July 17 to 19. A Creative Movement workshop for ages 3 to 5 will meet from 9:15 to 10 a.m. to play and dance as they are introduced to dance terms and develop a love of dance.

Dance Camp for ages 6 through 10 will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants will get to know their bodies better while learning about modern dance, hip hop, and improvisation.

The fee for either workshop is $24 for members and $32 for nonmembers.

Arts, Crafts and Games will also meet in two sessions the weeks of July 24 to 28 and Aug. 14 to 18. JoAnne Russo and Bradie Harris will lead fun projects, including drawing, sculpture, designing, exploring outdoors, singing, and games. Either session is for ages 6 to 11 and is $100 for members and $125 for nonmembers.

A Theater Camp Extraordinaire! with Robin Stoto and Ron Bos-Lun, for ages 9 and older, will meet Monday through Friday, July 31 to August 12, from 1 to 4 p.m., with a performance Saturday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. The fee is $220 for members and $260 for nonmembers.

Students in the program will flex their creative muscles with acting exercises and games infused with music and dance and will produce and stage their own plays, as well as contribute to props, costumes, sets, and lighting.

Printmaking is the focus of a workshop for ages 6 to 11 led by Clare Adams July 17 to 19 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Local printmaker Adams will teach basic printmaking techniques, including creative work with silk screening on fabric and paper.

The fee is $60 for members and $75 for nonmembers.
