VTC holds auditions for ‘A Christmas Carol’

BRATTLEBORO — Vermont Theatre Company announces auditions for its fourth annual production of A Christmas Carol on Monday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m., in the auditorium at Brattleboro Union High School on Fairground Road.

This production of Charles Dickens' classic story is a new adaptation written and directed by Jessica Gelter. A Christmas Carol is a ghost story about Ebenezer Scrooge, a heartless old miser, who, with the help of an old friend and some magical beings, finds love and generosity in his heart.

Performances will be in early December.

The director is seeking actors in a variety of ages and genders. Performers can audition for speaking roles or chorus roles. Auditioners interested in chorus roles are asked to come prepared to sing a Christmas carol that best showcases their voice. They will also be taught to sing a song in a small group at the audition.

Auditioners interested in speaking roles should be prepared to do cold readings of scenes from the show. Sides are available beforehand by contacting the director.

Production assistance is also being sought. Volunteers who would like to work on costumes, props, special effects, or production crew should contact the director.
