Zookeepers headline benefit concert for Rockingham Free Public Library

BELLOWS FALLS — Dave Rosane & The Zookeepers have spent this summer raising money for more than a dozen Vermont libraries through their donation-based concerts.

Now, it's the turn of the Friends of the Rockingham Library to showcase some great music for a great cause with a benefit concert at Stage 33 Live (33 Bridge St, just past the post office) on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m.

The band's tour title is “Across the Zoo-niverse,” paralleling this year's Summer Reading Program theme of “A Universe of Stories.”

In this second summer of fundraising for libraries, The Zookeepers won the support of the Vermont Department of Libraries, and their latest CD, “The Book of Zoo,” got the 2019 Tammie Award for “Best Vermont Rock Album” from the Rutland Herald and Times-Argus.

In addition, musicians Patty Carpenter and Owen Nied will play some short sets. Area poet Veranda Porche along with Vermont Poet Laureate Chard deNiord will read some of their poems. And cast members from World Under Wonder Playhouse will perform a medley from their coming show, Beauty and the Beast.

The suggested donation is $20 per ticket. All proceeds go directly to the Friends of the Rockingham Library to help support the Library's mission.

Tickets are available at the Rockingham Library's front desk at 65 Westminster St, online at stage33live.com, or at the door on Aug. 31. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 sharp. To learn more, call (802) 463-4270, email [email protected], or visit rockinghamlibrary.org.
