Kudos for Bob Bashford’s free tax-preparation help

BRATTLEBORO — Robert Bashford is the local site coordinator for the AARP free tax service in Brattleboro. Bob is responsible for obtaining sites and equipment, for recruiting and training volunteers (of which I am one), and for making appointments. Also, over the last couple of years, he has had to be on top of COVID-19 safety, all of which is very time consuming.

For tax year 2021, we started on Feb. 3 and ended on April 14, working two full days per week - one at the VFW and one at the Brattleboro Senior Center. We processed 233 federal returns and 238 state returns, free of charge. Bob also assisted taxpayers with their filing questions.

It is also important to thank the VFW and the Brattleboro Senior Center for allowing our group to use their facilities.

We have Bob to thank for this great service over the past several years and, hopefully, for years to come!
