Rock Voices presents CD release concert at the Latchis

BRATTLEBORO — Rock Voices, the area's only community rock choir, presents a CD Release Concert on Friday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m., at the Latchis Theatre in Brattleboro.

Join Rock Voices for an evening of rock and pop classics like you have never heard them before. Under the direction of award-winning composer/director/educator Tony Lechner, the choir is backed up by a professional four-piece band.

This concert will mark a special occasion for the choir: the release of their first-ever commercial CD. Copies will be available for sale at the show, and the choir will be singing the repertoire, so if you like what you hear you can take home a copy.

The repertoire includes “Africa” (Toto), “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” (CSN), “Happy Together” (The Turtles), “Times Like These” (Foo Fighters), “Bouncing Around the Room” (Phish), “Carry On” (Fun), “Somebody To Love” (Queen), and more.

The band is comprised of talented musicians with local roots: Ross Bellenoit (guitars), Jaron Olevsky (bass), Andrew Lederman (keyboards), and Jon Fisher (drums). Add to that the harmonies of Lechner's arrangements sung by a 150-voice choir and you are in for a real treat.

The concert comes with a warning: Once you experience this choir in person, you might find yourself signing up to sing next time around.

Rock Voices is open to all (no audition is necessary). For information, visit www.ValleyChoirs.com.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors (65 and over), $8 for students, and free for children 12 and under. There will also be a 50/50 raffle held to benefit the Vermont Jazz Center, which was robbed earlier this fall. Tickets are available through BrownPaperTickets.com.
