Matt Dunne stands for good government and understanding of technology

BELLOWS FALLS — I am writing in support of Matt Dunne for governor.

Matt has the tech background we need to get our health-care system out of the dark ages. He promises to invest in health information technology to reduce paperwork, improve communication, and increase efficiency throughout our health-care system, and he will fix the flawed health-care exchange by introducing a new leadership team with backgrounds in health, human services, and information technology to correct the failings at Vermont Health Connect while providing stronger oversight and complete accountability.

I believe Matt understands that high-speed internet means more than 100 mbps in the modern age, and he will fight to get access to high-speed (gigabit fiber) internet to all Vermonters across the state!

Matt will work to create new programs to help people suffering from addiction get the care they need to recover and rejoin the community as active members and good neighbors, and he will invest in and demand higher standards of care at our understaffed psychiatric hospitals so that no one who seeks help is denied due to lack of staff, lack of space, or lack of facilities.

Matt will ensure that low-income transgender people have Medicaid coverage for transition-related care, and he will demand that public places offer non-gender-biased restrooms, which is a huge win for the LGBT community.

Matt will work to create more low-income housing options for the disabled and senior population as well as work to create high-quality affordable housing for everyone who needs it.

He will pass a family medical leave bill to provide all family members with time away from work to care for ailing loved ones or when a child is born in a family - for fathers, too, not just mothers.

Matt will work to get rail travel functional across the state, so we have east-west and Montreal Amtrak options again.

Matt cares about the cost of higher education, and he is proposing the Vermont Service Scholarship Program, which would allow anyone who completes two years of national service in AmeriCorps or the military to graduate from Vermont state colleges debt free.

I strongly feel that Matt Dunne is the strongest candidate for governor this election cycle, and I hope others will join me in supporting him during his campaign.
