WILMINGTON-The Deerfield Valley Players will present The Addams Family Musical Wednesday through Saturday, July 30–Aug. 2 at 7:00 pm in Memorial Hall in Wilmington. The show is based on characters created by longtime New Yorker cartoonist Charles Addams, who reside in an appropriately ghoulish mansion in Central Park and have an affinity for all things macabre.
The production is directed by Caden Ari Adair, with musical direction by Barbara Lipstadt. Choreography is by Hillary Smith-Maddern and Adair, who is also the set designer. John Iverson is the technical director, and costume design is by Reba-Jean and Piper Pichette. Stage manager is Katherine Chandler, and Bob Pelosi is the makeup designer.
The cast includes Iverson as Gomez; Jo Swani as his wife, Morticia; Eden Gorst as their daughter, Wednesday; Nikhil Swani as their son, Pugsley; Joanne Bourbeau as Grandma; George Adair as Uncle Fester; and Paul Jensen as Lurch, the butler. Cliff Duncan, Veda Crewe, and A.J. Kuusinen play members of the Beineke family. Hillary Smith-Maddern, Sara Sherritt, Gail Look, Pat Iverson, Brandy Reynolds, Jerry Mosher, and John Mosher are the Addams family ancestors.
Andrew Lippa's musical score for this show was nominated for a Tony award in 2010. The original Broadway cast featured Nathan Lane as Gomez, and Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia. The book is by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, and production rights are granted by Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
