WILLIAMSVILLE-I recently attended a gathering in Guilford to listen to what Amanda Janoo had to say in regards to her bid to be governor of Vermont.
She appeared to be very present throughout the event, listening to what was going on, and the thrust of her presentation did indeed appear to be opening a conversation with the attendees as to what they are proud of in their — our — community.
Amanda caught my attention when she said that the town of Tunbridge hired their own nurse to service the area, giving folks access to health care that they otherwise couldn’t reach.
What if you took these looming small-school closings and kept them open by simply reducing the number of classrooms and used the rest of the building for, say, an office for town personnel? Or a public-health nurse? Or lease out the space for whatever?
If nothing else, maybe this brain toot stimulates some further thought!
