BRATTLEBORO-Perennial favorite Pan Evolution Steel Orchestra (PESO) headlines the return to Retreat Farm of Brattleboro Music Center’s popular Music Under the Stars series Saturday, June 27.
The Pan Evolution Steel Orchestra, two-time New York Panorama Competition Winner, is a steel pan band that brings world-class music to appreciative audiences around the U.S. and overseas. Founded in 2015 and based in Brooklyn, New York, the band uses its platform to promote unity throughout the culture and steel pan community.
“We cannot wait to kick off Music Under the Stars,” says Wayne Bernard of PESO. “Make sure to come out and bring your dancing shoes, as we present a sizzling performance of different genres with a twist of island vibes.”
Admission is free with donations welcome. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. at Retreat Farm, 45 Farmhouse Square, with the concert at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to bring lawn chairs and a picnic dinner. Note that no outside alcohol is permitted, but beverages are available for purchase on site. Also, only service dogs are allowed.
There will be a pre-concert workshop at 5:45 p.m., where concertgoers can meet the pannists, and try their hand at the pans.
Other scheduled concerts include the Vermont Jazz Center Band featuring Peter Eldridge of the New York Voices Saturday, July 11, and Celtic Night with Keith Murphy and Becky Tracy joined by Armand Aromin and Ben Gagliardi Saturday, Aug. 22.
