BRATTLEBORO — “Around the World in 80 Minutes” is the theme of this year's musical presentation at the Estey Organ Museum on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. The museum is located at 108 Birge St., in the building which originally housed the giant Corliss steam engine that powered the vast Estey Organ Co. complex.
Back again this year is the team of Nelson and Beverly Pease, of Palmer, Massachusetts. The Peases operate The Pease Collection of Historical Instruments in Palmer, together with a nearby museum for demonstration purposes. Beverly will play on instruments built from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s, and some special features will be included.
Most of the instruments are on permanent display in the Museum, with a few brought especially for the occasion. As the title implies, the program will feature musical offerings from countries around the world. A flag display and snacks with an international “flavor” will highlight the theme.
The program is part of the Estey Day celebration of the birthday of Estey Organ Company founder Jacob Estey.
Other exhibits include a playable walk-through pipe organ, numerous reed organs, and a display on the creation electronic organs. Original factory tools and advertisements are also on display.
