HCRS to host art show at River Garden in March

BRATTLEBORO — Health Care and Rehabilitation Services, southeastern Vermont's community mental-health agency, will host a multidisciplinary art show at the River Garden during the month of March.

According to a news release, the artwork will come from a vast array of talented artists who are part of the HCRS community. The show is expected to represent more than 50 artists who are employed and/or served by the nonprofit agency.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 1, during Brattleboro's Gallery Walk. The reception, which takes place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., will feature live music performed by Linda and Pete Simoneaux of Bayou X, DJ Diglio, and Gary Graff.

HCRS says it welcomes the community at the opening reception to celebrate creative expression through the arts. The community is also welcome to view the artwork anytime throughout the month of March, during regular open hours at the River Garden.

“Our art show was created in 2017 by two staff - Tristan Bridges and Jonathan Mattoon - whose passion for the arts has provided a venue for exhibiting the works of many artistic staff and clients,” said HCRS CEO George Karabakakis. “We believe in the therapeutic value of art, which can enhance people's physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.”

Founded in 1967, HCRS serves over 4,000 individuals in Windham and Windsor counties every year through its mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities programs. Visit for more information.
