Fund supports three nonprofits with gift cards for Groundworks clients

BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Area Hospice once again offers the opportunity to double your impact and help neighbors in need.

This year, the organization's Neighbor 2 Neighbor Fund will support three local nonprofits: Winston Prouty Center, Windham & Windsor Housing Trust, and the Afghan Refugee Project.

Last year, residents Connie Baxter and Greg Moschetti came up with the idea of “a twofer” - purchasing gift cards at Experienced Goods and donating them to clients at Groundworks Collaborative.

This was the impetus for the Neighbor 2 Neighbor Fund at Brattleboro Area Hospice. More than $5,000 was raised last year to benefit Groundworks Collaborative, the Women's Freedom Center, and Big Brother/Big Sisters of Vermont.

Neighbor 2 Neighbor supports neighbors in immediate need as well as neighbors who are terminally ill and grieving, all through the purchase of gift certificates from Experienced Goods.

Here's how it works. Make a designated online donation to the Neighbor 2 Neighbor Fund and choose one of this year's three local nonprofits.

The fund will in turn purchase gift certificates from Experienced Goods for use by clients of the nonprofit you choose. Those clients can then use the certificate to buy clothes for themselves or their children, or shoes, books, housewares, linens - anything in the Experienced Goods Thrift Store.

The fund doubles the economic impact of donations, as all purchases at Experienced Goods directly support Brattleboro Area Hospice clients who are terminally ill or grieving, and all certificates directly support clients in need at the local nonprofits.
