BRATTLEBORO-Windham County Prevention Partnership is excited to announce the upcoming Pride Whistlestop event, set to take place on Saturday, June 14, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Brattleboro train station.
This event is part of the broader movement, a national initiative inspired by historic "whistlestop" train tours, reimagined to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride, community empowerment, and the ongoing fight for equality.
Organizers say Brattleboro's Pride Whistlestop event invites everyone "to stand together in solidarity and welcome the train coming through with smiling faces and waving flags, championing the message that love is universal and diversity is a strength to be celebrated.
Whistlestop is a reminder of the importance of embracing and uplifting "diverse identities and stories that enrich our community," say organizers. "In a world where acceptance can sometimes be a challenge, Whistlestop offers a safe, welcoming space for all people, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, or background."
The train will be coming through Brattleboro at approximately 1:02 p.m., with performers and speakers beginning at noon. This year's event features a lineup of live music, guest speakers, and raffle prizes.
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local organizations such as The AIDS Project, The Root Social Justice Center, the Vermont Department of Health, and allies and advocates dedicated to fostering equality and respect. This event is free and open to all. All ages are welcome and encouraged to attend. For more information, email [email protected].
