In Brattleboro, a three-way race for three-year Selectboard seat

Two races for board will appear on WSESD ballot

BRATTLEBORO-Current Selectboard Chair Elizabeth McLoughlin is being challenged for a three-year seat by newcomer Ken Fay and current board member Amanda Ellis-Thurber in the March 3 town election.

Ellis-Thurber, who won her one-year seat in 2025, opted to challenge McLoughlin rather than run for another one-year term. McLoughlin served a one-year term in 2019 and was subsequently elected to two three-year terms.

In a second race for two one-year seats on the Selectboard, incumbent board member Isaac Evans-Frantz, who is also completing his first term, is running for re-election along with newcomers Randy Blodgett, Deena Chadwick, Bill Harvey, and Nell Mayo.

Board members Oscar Heller and Peter Case are not up for re-election this year.

Voting takes place in Brattleboro at American Legion Post 5 on Linden Street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3.

School races

Voters will choose between incumbents Kim Price and Rich Leavy for a three-year seat representing Brattleboro on the Windham Southeast School District (WSESD) school board and between newcomers Daniel Everlith and Paul Smith for a three-year term representing Dummerston on that board.

Putney representative incumbent Ruby McAdoo is running unopposed for a three-year term.

Voters from all district member towns — Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford, and Putney — vote for all board directors from every town.

Voting takes place in Brattleboro from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Dummerston School from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Broad Brook Community Center in Guilford from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and at Putney Central School from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Request an absentee ballot from your town clerk promptly or visit the Vermont Voter Portal at vote.vermont.gov/public/dashboard.

Brattleboro Community Television plans to air a candidates’ forum for the WSESD election on Thursday, Feb. 26.
