Don’t just sit back and cheer; help Bernie win in N.H.

BRATTLEBORO — If you're among the 75 percent of Windham County who voted to elect Bernie Sanders to the U.S. Senate - and perhaps among those who have voted for him in every election since 1990, like me - you were probably mighty excited when he announced that he would run for president.

With a win in Vermont's primary assured, we are left looking for an outlet to share our enthusiasm where it will make a difference.

And just across the river is the home of the first primary in the nation.

“Windham County for Bernie” is a new group forming to help New Hampshire win it for Sanders. We are holding a kickoff meeting Thursday, Aug. 27 at 118 Elliot Street in Brattleboro from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Campaign staff from Concord and Keene will give updates on the campaign. We will get organized and sign up for phone banking, canvassing, and other volunteer opportunities.

It is not enough to cheer while watching Bernie give the same speeches we've heard for 25 years to tens of thousands of voters across the United States. Citizens in Windham County have decades of experience organizing on the same issues that Bernie addresses, and he has come to Windham County to support us time and time again.

Let's use our experience to help our neighbors win him the Democratic primary on Feb. 6, 2016.
