Seasonable summer conditions continue, but heat increases early next week

Good day to you, hearty southern Vermonters! After our recent heat wave, we've got more seasonable summer conditions to look forward to as the next seven days arrive into and depart from our lives.

While some isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible this weekend, we should generally experience fair weather for the next week. Unfortunately, we need more rainfall to help mitigate the moderate drought Windham County is experiencing, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. Having said all that, let's jump into the daily details!

For Wednesday, the cold front that brought some scattered showers and thunderstorms to the region during the previous day will be well to our east, and allowing high pressure to build in from the west. Sunshine will be plentiful and the humidity levels will be comfortable. Expect highs in the mid to upper 70s and lows in the 50s under mostly clear skies.

On Thursday, another fair weather day will be ours to enjoy as high pressure continues to dominate the region as it tracks from east of James Bay in Canada to New Brunswick province by the end of the week. Expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s and clear skies at night with lows in the 50s again.

For Friday, we will be watching a cold front out to our west near the Great Lakes that will move from west to east through the region Friday night into Saturday morning. Expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s with humidity slowly increasing.

For Saturday, the interaction of our cold front and higher dewpoint temperatures out ahead of the front will produce enough moisture and lift in the atmosphere to form some isolated showers or thunderstorms. Expect highs near 80 degrees and lows in the low 60s.

The period from Sunday through Tuesday will be one where heat and humidity will be on the increase as a southwesterly flow pattern sets up shop. Highs will be in the mid 80s on Sunday, the upper 80s on Monday and possibly in the low 90s by Tuesday, with increasing humidity Monday and Tuesday.

I'm still expecting fair weather during this period, but we could see some scattered showers and thunderstorms for Tuesday through next Thursday. Have a great week!
