BRATTLEBORO-Vermont Theatre Company presents Macbeth, this summer’s Shakespeare in the Park production.
Macbeth will run from Thursday, June 25, through Sunday, June 28 (rain dates June 29 through July 1), at Living Memorial Park in Brattleboro.
“‘Macbeth will be King!’ Or at least that’s what he was told by three strange women in the forest,” said Director Liam Johnson in a news release. “But how exactly will that come to be? Surely his wife has a couple of ideas. With the aid of murdering ministers, the couple sets out to fulfill the mysterious prophecy. Chaos ensues.”
Johnson said this play “examines the nature of power, mental illness, and mortality in a timeless and critical manner. The cast of 13 actors breathes new meaning into the Bard’s original text [in] what we have lovingly nicknamed: ‘Shakespeare’s darkest comedy.’”
All shows start at 6 p.m., with tickets available at the door on a sliding scale of $10 to $20. Audience members are encouraged to bring a blanket, chairs, and a picnic.
