BRATTLEBORO-The Music Under the Stars concert series presented by the Brattleboro Music Center and Retreat Farm continues Saturday, July 11, with a performance by the Vermont Jazz Center Big Band, featuring Peter Eldridge.
The Vermont Jazz Center Big Band is an ensemble of local professional musicians who have performed for more than 20 years. Singing with the band will be Peter Eldridge, a founding member of the vocal group, New York Voices. The group has performed in venues and festivals around the world, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and the Kennedy Center, according to event promoters.
Eldridge led the Manhattan School of Music’s jazz voice department for 18 years and is currently professor of voice at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
The final concert in the series, Celtic Night with Keith Murphy and Becky Tracy with Armand Aromin and Ben Gagliardi, is set for Saturday, Aug. 22.
Admission is free with donations welcome. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. at Retreat Farm, 45 Farmhouse Square, Brattleboro, with the concert at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to bring lawn chairs and a picnic dinner. Vernon Creamie will be on site. No outside alcohol is permitted, but beverages are available for purchase. Leave your dog at home unless it is a service animal.
