Healing walk at Manitou
WILLIAMSVILLE — The Manitou Project will hold its next Healing Walk Friday, July 24, rain or shine from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The walk will be led by Fred Taylor and will include poems or other readings and chances to share about the experience.
Healing walks are held the second and fourth Friday of each month until October. The Manitou Project is at 300 Sunset Lake Rd. Directions: go 1.4 miles up Sunset Lake Road from Williamsville Village; the sign is on the right. Or approximately 5.6 miles over the top of Sunset Lake Road from Route 9 in West Brattleboro. 2X2 in concert in Athens
ATHENS — The Athens Brick Meetinghouse Committee in conjunction with the Athens Historic Preservation Society at the 1817 Brick Meetinghouse, at 2 Meetinghouse Rd. (just off Route 35), presents local favorites 2X2 in concert on Saturday, July 25, at 7 p.m.
The quartet includes Athenians Valerie Kosednar and Mark Grieco, along with longtime partners Betsy and Lee Rybeck Lynd singing from a variety of world folk traditions. 2X2 will perform songs of life, love, and hope in many languages and vocal styles.

MSA String Band concert in Saxtons River
SAXTONS RIVER — As part of the Sunday Music in the Park series, the Main Street Arts String Band will perform in a free concert Sunday, July 26, at 3 p.m. in the small amphitheater at Saxtons River Park, 40 Main St. on the corner of Main and Westminster streets.
Led by Jill Newton, the String Band began more than 30 years ago as a fiddle class for children. It quickly grew into a welcoming group of musicians of all ages who enjoy playing together and learning new tunes. The band performs a mix of traditional and contemporary fiddle music, including square dance tunes, jigs, waltzes, and reels — the kind of music that has been enjoyed in this area for generations.

Brattleboro hosts Community Connection Night July 29
BRATTLEBORO — The town of Brattleboro’s annual summer block party, Community Connection Night, returns Wednesday, July 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. in Preston Lot on Flat Street.
This event offers free, family-friendly opportunities to connect with neighbors and local organizations. The evening will feature free food, ice cream for children, a touch-a-truck area, bounce houses, basketball, street hockey, face painting, a dunk-an-officer booth, carnival games, and music.
Flat Street between Main Street and the Preston Lot will be closed to traffic during the event. Parking will be available at the Transportation Center via the Elliot Street entrance. Senior lunch in Dummerston
DUMMERSTON — Evening Star Grange and Senior Solutions will serve their next Senior Lunch on Wednesday, July 29, at the Grange Hall in Dummerston Center, with take-outs available between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., and in-house meal served at noon.
The menu for July 29 is baked chicken with barbecue sauce, rice pilaf, and summer squash casserole. Vegetarian option is cheese tortellini and spinach casserole. Dessert is pineapple-cherry crisp.
Reservations are highly suggested and can be made by calling the hall at 802-254-1138. Leave name, phone number, number of meals desired, and whether the meals are for eating in or taking out. The suggested donation is $4 for those age 60 and above eating inside, and $5 for those age 59 and under and all take-outs.
Seafood and chicken festival in Halifax
HALIFAX — The Halifax Fire Company’s 58th annual Seafood and Chicken Festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Cody Farm (by the Whitneyville Cemetery), 1470 Old County Rd.
Serving starts at 1 p.m., with a seafood meal of lobster and clams, a half-chicken, corn on the cob, cole slaw, potato salad, and watermelon for $60. A chicken meal with corn on the cob, cole slaw, potato salad, watermelon is $25. Children’s tickets for the chicken meal are $10 for ages 6–12 and free for kids under 6.
There will also be a Cow Flop contest, a local prize raffle and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets for this fundraiser can be purchased from the Town Office, from any Halifax firefighter, or call Wayne at 802-368-7733.
FOMAG seeks singers for Labor Day Weekend performance
GUILFORD — Friends of Music at Guilford (FOMAG) is putting together a group to perform at FOMAG’s Labor Day orchestra concert Sunday, Sept. 6, in the afternoon at the Guilford Organ Barn.
Tom Baehr will be rehearsing the group, but not conducting the piece. It is “To the Full Moon,” by Guilford composer Don McLean and poet Verandah Porche, third movement, “Rest Before Frost.” Organizers say it’s short and easy to learn, but some run-throughs in advance of the concert would be best.
