Concert to be presented at Estey Organ Museum

BRATTLEBORO — The Estey Organ Museum will sponsor an old-fashioned hymn sing on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 3 p.m.

The museum is located at 108 Birge St. in the old Estey Organ complex.

Organist for the event will be Ed Boadway of Claremont, N.H. He has been a church organist for 67 years, and is currently music director at the United Church in Ludlow. He was a founder of the Organ Historical Society and is a Past Dean of the Monadnock and Vermont Chapters of the American Guild of Organists (AGO), and was an Artist of the Year of the Vermont Chapter. He is a former Trustee of the Estey Organ Museum.

Assisting in the event will be Phil Stimmel, managing director of the Estey Organ Museum, who has degrees from Drew University and the School of Sacred Music at Union Theological Seminary. He is also a Past Dean of the Vermont Chapter of the AGO as well as an Artist of the Year.

The Estey Organ Museum is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the work of the Estey Organ Company, which over a period of 110 years manufactured more than 500,000 reed organs, 3,200 pipe organs and, before its closing in 1960, even electronic organs.

For many years, the company was the largest employer in the state of Vermont, and its leadership was heavily involved in social, religious, and political matters in Brattleboro.

This event is open to the public for a suggested donation of $5.00 at the door. The Estey Organ Museum is handicapped accessible.
