WESTMINSTER-I find it very hard these days to come up with anything positive to say about what’s going on in our country — politically speaking, that is. Every day it seems we have gone down yet another step, and you start to think we are just losing ground.
Because of our decline on the federal level, I decided to turn my focus on state and local government, thinking that maybe I can help make a difference there and start feeling less hopeless. I started focusing on wildlife issues in Vermont.
I attended my first Legislators at the Library session in Rockingham a few years back, and that’s where I met my local representatives.
I discussed my concerns about animal welfare in our state and a bill to address that was recently proposed. I was pleasantly surprised that I had been heard by all the legislators, and the next thing I knew, Rep. Michelle Bos-Lun became a co-sponsor of the bill.
That was several years ago. I can say I’ve gotten to know Michelle fairly well and frankly can’t say enough good things about her.
Rarely in everyday life do you find someone so selfless and hard working — never mind a politician. To know Michelle, you understand the phrase “if you want something done, ask a busy person.”
Doing a legislator’s job and doing it right demands personal sacrifice and commitment on a very high level that only a few people have. The hours are long, the multitasking is necessary, and the amount of information to absorb is endless. Michelle is very people-centric and has the ability to hear about her constituents’ issues and then turn that into action to produce bills that more often than not turn into law.
What more can you ask of someone representing you in Montpelier?
Michelle Bos-Lun is running for re-election and you could not get a better candidate. Please don’t be swayed by others who think this job is easy or whose name you recognize. The kind of experience Michelle has is priceless. Let’s use it to our advantage.
Our federal government is failing us. Don’t allow our state to do the same.
